Poland - Warsaw and Krakov

Remember to see Nancy's email for more detail.  Scroll down to see pictures.

Most of this week was spent in Poland.  We left on Monday morning and returned on Friday afternoon. We went to meet and train Elder and Sister Pope in person.  They are in Warsaw.  While in Warsaw we also visited with Elder and Sister Smith and we met and talked to Elder and Sister Baxter.  We went to a Chopin Concert in old town Warsaw with a group of senior missionaries.  We saw Eric Knap and met Elder Newinswander.
The priority of this trip was to meet and train the Popes, but we also wanted to see and experience the Warsaw and Krakov chapels because they were key gathering areas for the member refugees from Ukraine, and we had spent a lot of time interacting with them through the ERC work we have been doing.

We needed to get back in time for a ward activity on Saturday.  The ward was having a self preparedness fair and we were responsible for the Welfare/Self-Reliance and Just Serve tables.  It was good.

Here are some pictures:

Poland from the car.  Some beautiful country side.

The Warsaw Relief Society room full of suitcases and clothes for refugees.

Warsaw, Poland at the palace. We got caught in a mighty rain storm here.

The Krakov church.  Reminds me of some of the places we had church in Japan when I served as a young missionary.  Small, but sacred.

Godfry takes good care of the Warsaw church and grounds.  He is from Zimbabwe.

Krakov church is on the third floor.

Poland from the air.

We went to a Chopin concert together.  Very fun.  This is a group of temporary missionaries and full time missionaries.  We all really like each other.  Some names - Eric Knap, E/S Hazard, E/S Pope, E/S Rebeck, E/S Smith, E/S Baxter, Elder Newenswander.

Food in the Warsaw church to be distributed in Ukraine.  Full vans leave 3 times a week full of whatever is requested from the saints in Ukraine.

Elder and Sister Pope and us.  We went to Warsaw to train them.

The Warsaw Chapel

We came across a bike race in Krakov, Poland.

Frankfurt bound.
