MTC Week

We spent the week from January 17-23 in the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo.  We stayed at Courtney and Rick's house the Sunday night before, and then they dropped us off at the MTC on Monday morning.

We had lots of classes during the day where we studied different parts of "Preach My Gospel" and different Social Media apps.  At night, there was a devotional or fireside.  We went to the temple as a district on Thursday night.

Then on Monday January 24th we flew to Atlanta, and then off to Germany.  It was a long flight and when we arrived, we were tired.  The Clawsons met us at the airport and took us to our apartment.  The Mifflins met us at the apartment and served as our mentor couple and showed us around.  That afternoon we went for a walk with them through a cemetery close to our apartment.  Different couples were assigned to provide meals for us for the first three days.  We have been taken very good care of.  We drive about 10 miles to the office where we work, but this week, we have driven with Don and Raylene Bills who also serve in the office.  Next week, we will start driving our own car.

If you want to send us letters, the best way is through the "pouch" system.  This way you can use regular stamps and send your letters to Salt Lake.  They bring us letters from Salt Lake every Monday.  We will also send our letters through the pouch system.  Don't send packages because there is a big tax on them.  You can make cookies or whatever, and then eat them yourselves and think of us when you eat them.  Here is the pouch address:

I got a German sim card put in my cell phone, so I need to figure out how to get my pictures so I can put them on here.  In the mean time, we are adjusting to lots of new things.  It is tiring and fun.

My new phone number is:  +4917614492245

Put that in your contacts.  To dial a + just hold down the "0" on your phone.

Here are some pictures:

After a week in the MTC, Courtney and Rick picked us up on Saturday and took us on a scooter ride in Spanish Fork.  It was very fun and cold.  We rode to the "skeleton trees." After the ride, they took us to Magelby's Restaurant where they treated us to a very nice meal.  Then, they took us back to the MTC.  It was a very nice day.

We flew from Salt Lake on Monday morning and arrived in Frankfurt, Germany on Tuesday morning.  The Clawsons (our zone leaders) picked us up at the airport and drove us to our apartment.  Then, Ruth and Rodger Mifflin were assigned to be our orientation couple.  Ruth showed us how to use the U-bahn (above town train . . . like Trax in Utah).  She took us to the old square in downtown Frankfurt.  This is a bridge crossing the Main River which is a tributary of the Rhine River.  People put locks on the bridge to signify their forever love for one another.

The building in the forefront is where Ann Frank lived.

Us in Frankfurt!!  Hooray, we made it!!

Ruth Mifflin was our guide.  She and her husband are mental health missionaries. Roger had an appointment, so couldn't come with us, but he just kept telling us to relax and take it easy.  Good advice.
